set up VRTactility wiki page #12

We should set up a wiki page to document how the stimulator works, as well as how to interface- and expand upon the source code once the API matures.

We should also find a different medium for higher-level discussions around the project, since I think doing so through issues as with https://github.com/med-material/vrtactility/issues/2 is not ideal.

I propose we define the following wiki sections:

  • Stimulator & Glove: Explaining how the stimulator and glove works. The notion of Cathodes, Anodes, descriptions of the different commands we send to it and the responses we get back. Known pitfalls of working with it.
  • Source code and future modularity: Once the code has been refactored into logical modules, this section should detail what each module handles and how to interface with it. Explain how we communicate with the glove through Ardity, explain the TactilityManager, as well as the UniformGrabbable and FreeFloatable components, including how pressure and grabbing is detected. Also a section on how the eventual logging system is integrated.
  • Experiment design: Finally a section detailing the design for the experiment, including the procedure, scenarios, hypothesis and related works.

Just set up a basic Wiki here based on this.

@MartinGarenfeld Would you be able to write some stuff in the Stimulator & Glove section? And did you get the glove from Mathias?

It is a good idea to write some information about the project. I can provide some information on the glove and stimulator, yes, but who is the information intended for? And on that regard, can you update me on the situation of the project? Is Mathias still with us and did you present the project proposal at a semester start meeting? I got the glove and the partner has received it. Thank you!

I think it would be nice for us all to have a bit of information on that, it also makes it easier for new people to get familiar with the project - it is a good thing for longevity.

The project was not presented on the masters, I don't know about the other semesters. However, Steffan (@stef5949) who you met at our last meeting is doing his masters on the project.

I don't know the current situation with Mathias, but I think he is not currently employed by the university. @hendrikknoche knows more.
