Are we still maintained #30

Hi there. Is this project still being maintained, or shall we add a clarification to the repo main page?

jacomyma commented 5 years ago

The project is very loosely maintained but is slowly moving to a new version, doing the same thing, but with a more usable code and UI.

Good to hear. I'm not aware of any other robust open source methods for achieving colour pallets for large numbers of elements that you need to make visually distinctive and identifiable.

Not really your problem, but might want to bear in mind https://github.com/hoesler/rwantshue, which as I understand wraps iwanthue for people working in R (which I'd think was a good target group for this work).

Yes, thank you for the reminder! My plan right now is to have a cleaner implementation and a more transparent process. Making the process transparent is more of a web thing, but the algo itself is of course relevant to other implementations. I'll reach rWantsHue as I progress.

I am basically creating a series of Observable notebooks to explore, stabilize and document the different parts of the process. It is basically building the blocks, and when I will have all of them I will assemble them as a library and website. You can already take a look, and I will elaborate as time passes. I might be slow though. https://beta.observablehq.com/collection/@jacomyma/i-want-hue
