Physical sample metadata handling and tracing #27

Open hmsnaith opened 11 months ago

hmsnaith commented 11 months ago

Through international legislation - BBNJ (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction) there will be a requirement to identify and trace the location (and data created from) physical samples collected in international waters that could be used for genetic analysis. This will have implications for sample management and traceability of metadata on sample collection This should be best practise for all physical sample collection How will (will?) MEDIN standards and metadata support best best practise in sample metadata management?

I've been involved in a couple of fora on the Batch Identifier for the BBNJ process with my OBIS hat on... LSE are leading and happy to act for MEDIN in this space too
