UTF-8 support #12

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

Terminal-IDE works beautifully (Galaxy Nexus), except for one issue : french
accents (I suppose it is the same with umlauts and tildes) : they simply
disappear on the screen (but when I recuperate my vim text file , e.g., via
Dropbox, the accents are all there...)

It seems the origin is the version of Jack Palevich's ATE imbedded in
Terminal-IDE.
The latest version has UTF-8 support.

Is it possible to have an update in a future version ?

I agree.. Jackpal's wonderful emulator is pretty deeply in-grained into
Terminal IDE.

Need to update to latest version.. but not a case of simple switch.

on it.

After closer inspection.. it would appear that vim needs to be recompiled to
include multi-byte support..

Bash also needs unicode enabled..

Nano ..?

busysbox..

hmm..

I would also vote for this. Utf-8 documents are opened by vim as ff=unix, if I
save them that way, all accents get broken.

Is fixing this issue planned? I'd really love to see it fixed. Thanks a lot.

@tungchingkai: That version of vim does not work, at least for French accented
characters. My impression is that the terminal emulator also has to be fixed.

Hi,
has anyone come across a (perhaps even difficult) workaround so far?

This seems to be independent of vim, as even a simple "cat" hides the
characters without comment.

Thanks for this awsm program suite!

It also lacks unicode support when f.e. using vim on the remote machine through
SSH. I think it should be a terminal's flaw.

I think that is the best terminal on android, but I can't see many of files on
cyrillic UTF-8 by `ls`. And signs like такие just skipped. Please, fix it.

Thank you for awesome programm

At last I find a usable IDE on Android… but my files look partly empty
because there's no UTF-8 support. Please consider this, it's unusable otherwise.

I think it's safe to assume that this project is dead.

I doubt very much this project is dead. The developer is working for free since
a long while and might come back to it some time when he has time, breaks of
years sometimes occur, but its still not the case of dead proj. The code is
there for those who know to fix it BTW. Thanks for all the good work
SpartacusRex!
