Google Cloud SQL First Generation is being replaced by Second Generation

Yes another upgrade needed:

We’re writing to let you know that Google Cloud SQL First Generation will be deprecated on January 29, 2019, and fully decommissioned in favor of Second Generation on March 25, 2020. This transition will bring improved performance, availability, and storage capacity.

What’s the timeline? You’ll get email reminders for each milestone:

February 5, 2020: No new First Generation instances can be created March 4, 2020: Auto-upgrade of remaining First Generation instances March 25, 2020: Full decommission of First Generation How do I upgrade? We recommend that you upgrade your instances now, but you’ll be able to do so at any time before the full decommission on March 25, 2020, in accordance with the Google Cloud Platform deprecation policy. If you don’t upgrade by March 4, 2020, all remaining instances will be upgraded automatically.

Review our preparation documents to make sure your instances meet all requirements. Go to your instance list and click “upgrade” in each row that has a First Generation instance.
