It is pretty intuitive to find a blank place on the view, double-click there and a blank note appears. I suggest a triple click since you have to go out of your way to do that and so it wouldn't happen accidentally. However, a double click would be more conventional, efficient and probably 'safe' enough. Ideally the center of the body-text area of the note appears where the click was made.
