Participating in a kf6 discussion is a public act and requires a certain level of confidence in ones ability to write in the discourse style of science-class. But what if one is a terribal speler #5 ? O si Español es su primer idioma? Or Ebonics is your thing? Or your discourse style has different socio-economic or cultural roots? We need to provide some support for the entry into scientific discourse beyond just saying to the class, "don't worry about spelling or grammar and I'm available to help with those things or just ask a friend..." We need to provide systemic discourse support.
I'm envisioning the normal comment box would have a checkbox that says: "get language help from peers". Upon checking that there would be something like a google translate interface, with a "draft" box on the left, and a "suggestions" box on the right. There would be an area to select which (pre-added?) peers one would like to ask for help. There would need to be some kind of point system eg stackexchange where people's rep grows in the community to acknowledge this important community service. Lots of other possibilities, but this is the basic idea.
