Ubuntu install, VNC shows only grey tiles #530

After running Ubuntu trusty from Linux Deploy, VNC connections are not working properly. I am able to connect (both from the device itself, and from my desktop), and move the cursor, however the screen only displays a sort of grey "tiling"

I am able to SSH into Ubuntu just fine, however. The device is an LG G2, on 5.0.2 stock, D80030f, TWRP and XPosed installed. Kernel is 3.4.112 Dorimanx V11.1.

I've got the same on Jessie with Gnome.
