Occupancy Door Sign - digital signage #2845

Dear All,

we used MRBS since 2013 within Moodle as a block and users asked often to have a display at/beside the door of a lab to see if it's occupied or not. Is there already a solution to create such a view within MRBS or is it feasible to access the database to show on a website whether a room is occupied or not? Or maybe show some additional information? The attachment is only an example what I mean...

Best

Sascha

This is an outstanding feature request.

Yes, I made the feature request mentioned above. I think this could be a very simple view to start with. Something like the enclosed screenshot. Upcoming bookings for a room. I'd also like to have a QR code in the footer to make it easy to make a reservation on the fly.

To implement this view I suggest an addition parameter to the existing URL in day view for a room. Something like &kiosk=1 or &digitalsignage=1 Then a config option to allow this or not.

A refresh routine is needed to update the URL when time passes midnight.

Just an idea how this can be implemented without too many bells and whistles.
