Unable to create new backups on Synology NAS via WebDAV #870

For a while I am having a rather strange issue when setting up a new backup task in Hyper Backup on my Synology. When setting up a new backup task with Hyper Backup, it fails at the final step with an error like this: Unable to perform this operation, possibly because the network connection is unstable or the system is busy. Please try again later.

The strange part here is that I have some backup tasks running for months/years now and they are working fine, even at moment of writing. But creating a new backup task is failing.

I noticed the problems running DSM version 7.1.1 with MegaCMD version 1.6.1. I tried reinstalling MegaCMD 1.6.1 but that didn't solved the issue. I saw there was a version 1.6.3 for DSM 7.2, so I upgraded my Synology DS216+ towards DSM 7.2-64570 Update 3, but you can guess it: the issue is still there. Rebooting, reinstalling, nothing seem to work.

Furthermore:

The steps I follow to set it up. The existing backup tasks I have set up are also made with the following procedure. I followed this tutorial on Reddit. Maybe I am doing wrong something here?

image ⬆️ Here I set up the destination. For testing purposes I am using test directories but the regular I am using also don't work.

image ⬆️ I am using an empty folder here. No large files to sync here.

image ⬆️ Using default settings here (nothing selected).

image ⬆️ Using default settings here. Also tried with client side encryption (which I have on normally) but without luck.

image ⬆️ Using default settings here: no rotation.

image ⬆️ Summary of the backup settings.

image After this it starts loading ... for quite some time. On the MEGA storage it does something.

And after plus minus 20 minutes, it errors out with this message.

Help appreciated! I am out of my options to be honest...

Its the same case here. I am unable to create a backup task at all!! It throws the same system busy error. Weirdly, Synology should also be supporting protocols like Samba or FTP!!

Does it work when MEGAcmd process is shut down?

Have you tried to exclude mega's .debris hidden folder? It may be swapping there like crazy when synchronising. And backup expects files not changing all the time.

I saw there was a version 1.6.3 for DSM 7.2, so I upgraded my Synology DS216+ towards DSM 7.2-64570 Update 3, but you can guess it: the issue is still there. Rebooting, reinstalling, nothing seem to work.

Where did you find 1.6.3? The Synology store has 1.6.1 (I have DSM 7.2) and googling 1.6.3 for synology only gives this your post as the result!

Exactly the same problem here. I managed to define 2 new smaller tasks (after a lot of failures) but the third task keeps having this same problem. Running lates version of DSM and all packages. It seems that defining tasks for smaller directories are less prone to this error, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have a clue?

I am running exactly into the same problem with Hyper Backup. Any updates on how to avoid it? Funny thing is, that MEGAcmd webdav with File Station and Cloud Sync is working like a charm.

Today I uninstalled Version 1.6.3 and delete the ".megacmd" folder under home. Then I reinstalled the official 1.4 Version from package-centre and it everything works perfect. Give it a try. Don't know why, but V 1.4 is not creating a ".megacmd" folder under home, but don't mind, as it works now.
