Files stuck with "retrying" but never continue to download. #209

Open Boured opened 6 years ago

Boured commented 6 years ago

I recently synced some files using Megasync, and got every single file (over 2000) except for 2, which are now stuck in an infinite loop of "retrying" and "starting". I've logged in and out, i've cleared my local files, and even checked the web version where it doesn't appear to do it. This means its client only. I can't even cancel all, as when I press yes they don't respond at all, so i'm basically stuck with 2 files being unable to download, but not being able to stop it from trying to.

Same thing is happening to me...

braydie commented 6 years ago

I also have the same issue - I raised a support request via the above email address

mtellezj commented 6 years ago

Same probleme here, ubuntu mate 18.04

nitinkamra1992 commented 5 years ago

I am having the same issue too. Has this been resolved yet?

borislav968 commented 5 years ago

Seems to be stuck with resolving... The same here.

jacanestro commented 5 years ago

I have the same problem.

In Windows 7 I tried to download those files using MEGACmd without success. It said Starting, Retrying. In Windows 7 I tried also copying the public link and pasting in any explorer (Chrome, Firefox, IE) and gives also an error. In Windows 7 I have installed LUbuntu in a Virtualbox machine, installed MEGASync, but the same problem arised. It looks like a problem in MEGA servers. I'm worried about the possibility of files' corruption on them.

Any news about this issue??

jacanestro commented 5 years ago

I sent an email to MEGA Support. The staff has been very kind and has informed me the following: "During a significant power incident in of one of our data centres, we experienced a server issue resulting today in 'Temporary unavailable' error messages and downloads not completing. We are sorry however the particular link/s you have sent has been affected by this significant incident resulting in some file system corruption, and a small fraction of the uploaded files was lost. Due to this major hardware failure, this file/s has become unavailable. The file/s is not and will not be accessible."

In my case, iI found corrupted files in the Rubbish bin and can not be downloaded.

Hope this information help others.

RenanMsV commented 5 years ago

So dont they have backup at all?

linuxgirl22 commented 5 years ago

A bit worrying that files can be lost like that. Have just lost 24 files. Will have to remember to back up the folder.

borislav968 commented 5 years ago

This issue soon will be a year old, but I still get stuck sync for several not so big files. I see no reason for a paid subscription with such a poor support.

jacanestro commented 5 years ago

I suppose they do file protection only if you pay for the account, like business accounts. I guess for free, personal accounts you don't have any protection... :-(

borislav968 commented 5 years ago

Then it seems to be bad marketing - as a potential customer I see it failing at very basic functionality and doubt it will not fail with paid account.

nitinkamra1992 commented 5 years ago

Yeah, I reported the issue in Sept 2018 and it never got resolved. After facing tons of trouble, I finally had to just switch to a different service for my cloud sync and backup. Sad to see that the issue is still unresolved.

polemon commented 5 years ago

Happens to me all the time, especially, when syncing on a laptop that hasn't been used for a while at a time. The only solution so far, is to touch the files on the device I know they synced fine before, that kinda rattles it all up and the syncing then runs fine for a while - untill the next time this happens (i.e. when a laptop isn't used for a while and syncing then needs to work on a bit of a backlog).

Same issue here

When you see this, please check MEGAsync's log at %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Mega Limited\MEGAsync\logs\MEGAsync.log and search for the filename in question. You should see some reason given why it can't process it, such as it has been modified recently and MEGAsync is waiting for it to be stable, or some other process has it open in a way that means MEGAsync can't read it. If the reason given is not clear or is incorrect, please post details here. thanks

This reply is at least one year late. Last week I close my mega account because of this issue.

I couldn't try this because the transfer quota is really small these days (around 2gb). Someone suggested in #357 that forcing a full scan solves the issue. I don't know if this will work for me because I'm downloading a folder, not syncing. But I'll try.

Currently I'm downloading a 3GB folder with a lot of small files (arond 1MB photos). The 5 stuck files are perfectly downloadable from the MEGA website.

lemenhir commented 4 years ago

@mattw-mega Today I tried to synchronize a cloud folder with a local folder. The most of it has been downloaded locally but there are some files that cannot be downloaded. Most of the time, it is trying to download and it says "retrying" and sometimes "failed: Temporary not available". When I go to the log file, I always get the same error: "Transfer failed with error -18 [transfer.cpp:357]". What is happening?

lemenhir commented 4 years ago

Ah, ok, now the problem that I had has been solved. All files have been correctly downloaded.

I do not have folder logs in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Mega Limited\MEGAsync\logs\MEGAsync.log (Windows 10)

For me the problem is not very big, just annoying. There were 4 files, that couldn't be synced. Deleting them on the original device and pasting them once again in Sync folder was not helping.

arafah17 commented 3 years ago

how to solve the problem above you can install or overwrite the Mega Desktop application again without deleting the mega application where the error occurs.

I solved it by switching to Google Drive

danigit commented 3 years ago

I solved the problem by identifying the files that were "pending" in the File Explorer MEGA folder and delete them. After this MegaSync started working fine again. I think the problem was that some of those files were corrupted in some way. Fortunately where files that I didn't needed anymore.

This issue is almost three years old and it still happens to me T_T

epassaro commented 3 years ago

I used rclone to download my data.

Then there's a bunch of "Access denied" errors which don't go away even after restarting megasync as Administrator.

Pausing and Resuming the transfers doesn't help, and the "Cancell All" button does nothing.

The issue persists even in the latest release of MEGASync (4.6.1).

The issue is not related to specific files, because you can disable all of your syncs, create a dummy folder with a single file with a single ASCII letter, and it still won't upload it. This issue is far deaper than that.

Fix? ~Reinstall megasync~ Switch providers: https://privacyguides.org/cloud/ I'll be the first to say I think MEGAsync is pretty useful, but it's not irreplaceable. And such a catastrophic error is troublesome to say the least.

This issue is almost three years old and it still happens to me T_T

i fixed by first unchecking "use HTTPS" in network ; then make small changes in files not uploading.

It started working fine. mine issue was in latest version 4.8 something.

Jaco-Campher commented 1 year ago

Just some additional information: The "Force Scan" and "use HTTPS" did not work for me. But I only started seeing this problem after switching to a fiber internet connection. On my prev. Wi-Fi internet I did not have this problem. Also when I'm connected to a VPN then everything is working fine.

As for the files that does not sync, it is not all files, only some.

Pause them and turn on your vpn and press resume after it is activated.
