Sync client uses too much CPU #265

When syncing, the client uses anywhere from 60% to 95% of CPU on Ubuntu 18.04. At times it will slow down my laptop usage and it consumes too much battery power.

Is there a way to reduce the CPU usage?

When using MEGAsync on Pop!_OS 20.04, enabling the client app causes giant CPU spikes in gnome-shell every five seconds, each of which hangs all user interface elements on screen (all applications and DE elements). This makes the system relatively unusable. The problem resolves immediately on quitting MEGAsync.

I would greatly appreciate some insight from the MEGAsync team; this is a critical issue.

Sorry, I should have performed a search of the issue tracker. This bug is reported at #460 already. I presume the issue here may be something else (steady-state CPU usage, rather than spikes).
