High CPU Usage #733

I am on Ubuntu 22.04 using Megasync version 4.6.8-3.1 and is using 100% of one of my CPU cores. This makes my laptop fan go crazy. After I shut down the laptop's temperature comes down.

Hello,

The most common cause of high CPU is an elevated number of local synced files/folders.

Keep in mind that during the first phase of scanning and analyzing local and remote files, the computer can suffer moments of high CPU and memory consumption. Once all the data has been scanned and the MEGAsync status is "Up to date", subsequent modifications/additions/deletions should not produce excessive CPU consumption. If you have a high number of files to synchronize, it is normal that the CPU and RAM (memory) usage will increase.

Also, if you log out every time you finish using MEGAsync, all your local cache will be deleted and the next time you run MEGAsync it will have to be recreated, so that could generate high CPU usage again, as indicated above.

We recommend you to do the following:

  1. Please make sure that you have installed the corresponding version of MEGAsync from our website: https://mega.nz/desktop

  2. From MEGAsync, go to Settings/Preferences -> General -> Force a full scan Also visit MEGA website (https://mega.nz), go to Menu -> click 'Reload your account' while holding the keyboard key Ctrl.

Please let us know your progress.
