File versions take up space in Backups folder without being available to the user. #792

As I understand it file versions are not available in the new Backup feature. Still, when I change a file, it seems that it gets uploaded while the previous version is kept, but without being available to the user. The web app reports that 0 bytes are used for file versioning, but the total space used goes up, and MEGAsync shows that the space used for file versions is > 0.

Hello,

Recovering file version for the backup folder is yet to be released.

However, the versioning feature also applies to the sync logic of the "Backup folder" feature, just it is not visible in the user interface. This could also be the reason that your total space goes up.

We are currently working on improving this feature so you can have a clearer vision of what is going on and it will be added to our services in future releases.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

As a workaround, if you want to manage such files version, you can stop the backup folder and move it to your cloud drive, and then you can edit the file version from your cloud drive.

But of course, if you want to keep the backup folder, you will have to set it up again using the same path.

The backup feature is unusable for me because the user can't handle the backup data easily at all. It should be allowed to edit the backup data (e.g. delete files/versions). Perhaps show a warning or ask a password to edit (in case some people feel that they would otherwise mess things up easily). SpiderOakOne has a good system, check them out.
