Here you go! If there is any additional feedback you want to add feel free to do it under the questions ;D If you're having trouble with controls checkout my design journal, it'll have them listed <3

  1. How many collectibles were you able to find?
  2. How long did it take you to give up/find all the collectibles? (Give me your best estimate!)
  3. The map is intentionally meant to be dark but would you prefer a small, short-range flashlight style lighting or the subtle area lighting currently in the game? Or are you brave enough to try without any light other than the collectibles?
  4. I plan to add some kind of mechanic that will provide more of a challenge for the player to complete the maze as quickly/efficiently as possible. Based on your experience, what would motivate you? (ex: timer, the enemy trying to catch you, etc)
  5. Did you get discouraged to play at all due to the pitch-black nature of the maze? Or would you continue to play if this was only the first of many levels?
  6. Would the experience be enhanced with soft music playing in the background?
  7. What sound effects would you suggest/did you expect? (ex: footsteps, bling when picking up a collectible, etc)
  8. Would the game be improved if there was a story being told? Or would it make the game cluttered and too busy?
  9. What are some general suggestions to improve the game?

1.3!

  1. It took me a five minutes of gameplay before giving up.
  2. I would prefer having small flashlight during the game. However, I would take the challenge to try without any source of lighting!
  3. I think a timer where you gain a limited amount of time each time you capture a collectible would be interesting!
  4. No What discouraged me is the jittery camera. The camera was not stable enough to properly look around in the maze (might need to fix this issue). However, I would play other levels of this game!
  5. Yes!
  6. I would like to hear a sound each time I catch a collectible!
  7. I do not think a narrative is necessary. You can keep it as a simple arcade game!
  8. Fix the unstable camera and lowering the level of the collectibles (sometimes they were too high to catch).

  1. 9! Unfortunately, I missed one and didn’t realize till I scanned the map to see how many there were.
  2. I’d say a rough estimate of 2-3 minutes till I gave up.
  3. Since the map is intentionally dark, I believe it would be better to either have the flashlight or the subtle area lighting. The subtle area lighting allowed me to distinguish the area even though it was dark which made the flashlight obsolete. I would enjoy it if the area was super dark to the point where you can barely see anything, but I had a flashlight that allowed me to see if I was close to walls and such. The collectible lighting was perfect, it gave a subtle distinction of the places I’ve already been to and the ones I haven’t because they were darker.
  4. At first, I genuinely thought it was a horror game because it was so dark, but after exploring and finding collectibles, I realized that there was nothing to worry about. The objective alone was enough to motivate me, but adding some elements such as a timer and an enemy would surely motivate me to find all the collectibles faster.
  5. I wasn’t too discouraged to play because of the sprint button with the left-shift key. It made going around finding the collectibles a lot faster than if I was walking, which would have made going around much longer and exhausting. With some of the added mechanics from the previous questions, I would actually enjoy playing the game even if I hate scary games.
  6. Soft music or spooky music would actually be nice. It would make players more immersed in the game world.
  7. Sound effects help give feedback to the player that they are doing something. Footsteps would allow players to know that they are moving and bling when they collect/did something. It doesn’t hurt to put sound effects, but it would be beneficial and just like music, immerse you more into the game.
  8. If that was a story being told, it could provide motivation to the player and urge them to keep playing so that they can uncover the story. I don’t believe it would make the game busy.
  9. The only suggestion I have is that I believe having the flashlight and the collectibles be the only light source would improve the game slightly and make it more challenging. I don’t have any other relevant suggestions because they weren’t originally added in the prototype or they are suggestions you already plan on adding such as music, story, challenges and sound effects.
