5x ore Chemical Crystalizing factory wanted #339

Describe the feature you'd like

I want a Chemical Crystalizing factory. This would make 5x ore a more viable thing to build.

Currently you need 5 chemical crystallizers to keep up to one chemical dissolution chamber due to the nature of the recipe outputting 5x the amount of slurry than ore.

This leads to you needing 5 chemical crystallizers for one of these machines, BUT the pressurized pipes do not evenly distribute the slurry between the 5 chemical crystallizers meaning that without a manual override of you dumping leftover slurry, the setup will never keep up to real world environments such as a digital miner.

With the current 5x processing it is not necessary to build multiple machines for each ore individually. You can build one line of 5x for all your ores. Both me and shark have come up with ways to do it. If you want more information @ either shark or myself (pikachu3327) on the Discord for further information.

This is a never ending debate about the lack of speed and stability (slurry residue in crystalizers) in x5 Ore Processing. And there are always people commenting on changeing ones expectations of the process. Efficiency vs Speed yadayadayada. Its design leading to a bad player expirience in my oppinion.

When you did 4x Processing you might have one Injection Factory Outputing into 4 Separate lines of Advance Factories because the math checks out (5 slots times 4 shards). And in the end it feels great and satisfying to have 20 Ingots being made at a time. And all of that is taken away when you do x5. Because they crystalizer is so slow, you cant realiably split the slurries, the washer costs insace RF and its operation and upgrades are not in line with all the other machines in the pipeline (all have x10 speed at max, only washer has x256 and has a per tick oparation).

So if the player wants to achieve the same rate as in x4 Processing, theyd have to build 20 lines of slurry processing. That many machines would certainly cause extra lag and skyrocket the energy consumption.

My thoughts on how to improve the process:

That should make it possible to reliably split slurries into multiple crystalizers without leaving residue. It would also bring a bit more consistency to the machines and their upgrades. Alternatively, like others suggested, you could add factory tiers for all slurry processing machines or only for the crystalizer (to save space for not having to build 5 per washer/CIC). To balance this out, i would make the machines consume ALOT of energy, so the player is forced to build a big energy supplier before doing the now more powerful ore quintupling.

Finishing a x5 Ore Processing Setup should be rewarded with satisfaction. The lack of speed makes it feel like a downgrade over x4 (which it isnt but still feels like it). Also, in my personal oppinion, having to build a massive setup for x4 speeds is aesthetically impossible. Just one line of singular machines that could be scaled would be so much more satisfying.

Thank you if you actually read through this wall of text. I hope it didnt sound like i was angry. I personaly think the current process is flawed and the many times this gets brought seem to indicate that many others feel the same and i hope the mod authors can acknowledge that. I respect you a lot for the work you have done and continue to do. All i hope for is that this can make Mekanism even better than it already is.
