2 years ago I saw this the other day and couldn't stop thinking about it, so here's my idea:
- New Machine: Gaseous Reaction Chamber (GRC)
- Reacts 1 liquid and 1 gas to make 2 gases
- Could also be an upgrade to the Electrolytic Separator
- Producing Mercury
- Mine Cinnabar from Cinnabar Ore
- Same drop rate as Diamond w/ enrichment recipe for the ore block
- Melt Cinnabar in a new machine (or just PRC -> Condensentrate) to make Liquid Mercury Sulfide
- Use Mercury Sulfide as Fission Reactor coolant to produce Superheated Mercury Sulfide
- Allows for higher temperatures than other coolants, but is consumed at a greater rate
- Run Superheated Mercury Sulfide through GRC with Liquid Oxygen to produce Mercury Vapor and Sulfur Dioxide
- Condensentrate Mercury Vapor to produce Mercury
- Mine Cinnabar from Cinnabar Ore
- Ore Processing
- Either new machine, in-world processing, or PRC to amalgamate raw ores w/ Mercury to make 1000mb
Amalgam (maybe 3 ore blocks to make 4000mb?) - New machine would just be like “Amalgamation Chamber” or something
- PRC seems too cheap compared to Dissolution Chamber and the rest of the ore processing machines but wouldn’t require a new machine
- In-world processing could be interesting, just dropping the raw ore in liquid Mercury; also seems too cheap
- Will force players to play around with redstone to fully automate the process
- Use GRC to react Amalgam + Sulfuric Acid to make Dirty Ore Slurry + Mercury Sulfide
- 200mb Dirty Ore Slurry becomes 1 ingot so this becomes 5x processing (6.666x for ore blocks)
- Either new machine, in-world processing, or PRC to amalgamate raw ores w/ Mercury to make 1000mb
Didn't think much about balancing so feedback is very welcome

To my knowledge some metal companies I think use mercury metal to purify metals so maybe that could be applied later on???

If I was doing it I would have you put in a raw metal or an ore into a machine containing mercury and it turns it to an amalgam ore ex; “Gold ore Amalgam” (this would produce 1000 more mb’s of slurry in a dissolution chamber)
