(DIGITAL MINER) Power consumption suggestions #500

Everyone is ramping up their Digital Miners with 9X speed upgrades REAL early, with no actual cost to operations increase. When I initially envisioned the Digital Miner, I expected that an increase in speed OR an increase in mining radius would increase power consumption.

I still think that a 9x Speed upgraded Digital Miner should have 9 times the base energy cost. I also think that every 5 blocks above the initial 10 block search radius size should increase power consumption by +10%.

A Max-Radius Max-Speed Digital Miner should be a POWER HOG.

Thoughts?

First I would say to increase the cost of speed upgrades, maybe requiring diamond dust, 2 per upgrade. use an atomic core, or something in between.Actually 8 osmium and 8 iron (half if the ores are doubled, since you usually make a doubling production line early) are incredibly cheap for the increased power they give to everything. After that it should only be needed to adjust the extra energy consumed per speed upgrade per machine.

I'm thinking twice the power consumption and half the speed. Thoughts?

I also like tv idea of dynamic consumption based on radius.

I would heavily recommend you put a greater penalty on SPEED increase rather than radius. If you penalize radius over speed, people will just speed boost their miners and 'hop' from spot to spot.

That should work nice to nerf them quite a bit. Eager to test it tuned down, to see the viability of rushing it over other systems.

I really do think that all improvements (from base radius, or base speed) should boost power consumption somehow. Then factor in turning on Silk Touch mode and it would be REAL power murder (which may be what we need).

Pretty much everyone is agreeing however... current power costs are far too low, and the fact that speed has no impact on power costs seems VERY unbalancing. Especially at 9x speed upgrades.

I am more than willing to admit that I apparently ballparked necessary power consumption numbers WAY too low for the average community. LOL

There we go, should be better.
