Bonjour does not appear to work on WIRED network #187

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Clean install of 10.5.8 or 10.6.2 with NBI 0.8.3 Release
2. connect the network via the ethernet jack (not wireless)
3. attempt to browse the network

What netbook are you using this on?
Dell mini 9

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect to to see all the computers that are shared on the network and
be able to connect
to them when browsing. I am able to see SMB shares, but not connect to them. I
am not able to
see AFP shares at all and I am not able to connect using the computer's name
(ie
computer_name.local).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.8.3 Release. This occurs on both 10.5.8 and 10.6.2 clean installs.

Please provide any additional information below.
This used to work way back when using the DellEFI method (not sure which
version).

I have this issue as well, on a Dell Mini 10v freshly installed with 0.8.4pre.
I've
gathered it's an issue with the ethernet card driver.

Is there a recommended solution/work around? Will the RealtekR1000.kext get
fixed?
Can I help?

Btw this thread suggests a modified ifconfig binary that puts the NIC in
promiscous
mode to solve it, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?

I see this problem also:

it is "resolved" by using Sharetool. But that is not a real solution.
