I have the same problem. I have a Samsung NC10 running 10.5.6 for about 9
months but
recently bought an iPhone in February which needs Safari 4 to sync or

I created a USB stick install with a Retail copy of Snow Leopard and NBI 8.4
RC1 and
successfully installed Snow Leopard on the NC10 last month (upgrading over the
existing install rather than refortmatting the hard drive). I now have a working
ethernet connection (bonus :-) but no sound and no brightness control.

I have live without the brightness control, but the sound is really a pain...
Any
help or suggestion would be GREATLY appreciated!

Yes. I found a very easy fix for the sound on the dell mini forum,. I have
included the instructions below for
how to do it. I have also attached the two .kext files you need. I am on a Mini
9 now running 10.6.3 with
working internal audio.

Download the two kext files above to your desktop and then follow these
instructions
1. With the finder active, under the Go menu select "Go To Folder"
2. Paste or type in /Extra/Mini9Ext/
3. Option copy the 2 kexts above into the Extra/Mini9Ext/ folder. You will need
to input your password.
4. Go to the /Extra folder and run the UpdateExtra application.
5. When you are finished, open Disk Utility and Repair permissions
5. Reboot and you should have your audio back.

I had no problems doing this and it works, but of course I cannot be held
accountable. I am just happy to
share this easy workaround because I was also really frustrated that I lost my
audio. Really happy to have it
back!

In case you need to mirror displays, or your output display is not working,
there is a similar easy workaround
that just requires replacing a .kext file.

Thanks Janir, I tried downloading and installing those kexts but unfortunately
it blew up my build. It gave me the
same crash screen I get when I have tried to upgrade to 10.6.3...

Any other tips?
