Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Shut 10v down.
2. Attempt to boot normally without intervention (such as recovery=y)
3. Grey apple logo boot screen with spinning wheel of death gets stuck forever.

What netbook are you using this on?
Dell mini 10v.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to get past boot screen to see desktop. Instead, stuck on grey apple
logo boot screen with spinning wheel of death forever.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
NetbookInstaller 0.8.4 RC1.app.zip

Please provide any additional information below.
I started at 10.6.0.
I downloaded NetbookInstaller 0.8.4 RC1.app.zip, then opened it. Then
installed.
Next, I did software update and got the 10.6.6 combo.
Now whenever I shut down and try to boot up again, I get stuck at the grey
apple logo boot screen with the spinning wheel stuck turning forever.

I have been having the same problem, and emailed meklort because it appeared to
be a kernel mismatch (according to the error messages I saw). Here's what he
sent back

"Right now the latest version of NBI is 0.8.5pre. If you use either it or 0.8.4
you should not have the version mismatch error.

Essentially, to get your machine booting up again, you need to remove the
SleepEnabler.kext file inside of /Extra and regenerate the kext cache located
there as well."
