Thank you and sorry for delayed answer. BTW, as I know chef now tends to use ruby 1.9.* or higher and it's bare need to care about ruby 1.8.* ( this is why Iconv is used ), but if people still use old version of chef, it's of course make a sense

Some modules print messages with non-UTF-8 message especially when running test. It may cause errors with Chef on Ruby 1.8 / Iconv.
