Add glossary for definition abbreviations #144

Open melink14 opened 6 years ago

melink14 commented 6 years ago

From CWS:

"There are abbreviations in the definitions such as (v1,vi) (P) and (pref). Is there a place where I can find out what these mean? Can you include a list of their meanings in the options page? Thanks."

These can be found in the dictionary FAQ page which I should find and link here.

Couldn't find said FAQ page, but for anyone else looking for these here's the list from JMDict's wiki: https://www.edrdg.org/wiki/index.php/Dictionary_Codes

Thanks @elenashen2010; I think the project has definitely been refined since this taks was opened!

In addition to the page you found I think the database help page has even more entries: https://www.edrdg.org/jmwsgi/edhelp.py?svc=jmdict&sid=#kw_pos:~:text=see%3D%E4%B8%87%E4%BA%8B%20jmnedict%5D-,Keyword%20abbreviations,-Rinf%20%2D%2D%20reading%20info

And there's also some Kanji index information here: https://www.edrdg.org/wiki/index.php/KANJIDIC_Project#Kanji_Dictionary_Search_Codes:~:text=0212.%20(download)-,Content%20%26%20Format,-The%20database%20and

Should make a usage help page in the wiki (or as an md file in the repo proper) and then link from the options page or similar.

(Given the dictionary codes page hasn't been updated since 2011; it's definitely going to be out of date. The EDRDG comittee is pretty active in revising and adding new codes)
