Noise Coming Out of Headphone Jack #2

I recently received the TriggerHappy cable and decided to try it out. I tried using it with both an Android and iOS phone with no success. I have tried using an Android 2.2 and an iPhone 3GS with the latest iOS. The volume on both was set to max. Following the iOS troubleshooting guide did not have an effect either. At this point, it seems like the cable does not work properly at all as I can hear noise coming out of the headphone jack on both phones, which I assume are the signals sent to the camera.

p.s. On the Nikon D90 I set the camera to M mode and turned AF on the lens off.

I've followed all instructions, the camera is set to manual mode, manual focus, etc. The app seems to be working fine. To test it, I plugged in a pair of head phones and i could here the clicks and pops signal. The only other thing that could be faulty is the cable.
