No Fire #4

Was exited to receive my Trigger Happy remote today, unfortunately when I plugged it in I found that it will not trigger my camera.

I have: Canon Rebel XTi with the latest Firmware (1.1.1), iPhone 3GS with the latest firmware (5.1.1)

I have tried the suggestions you list on your support site for "Trouble Shooting Trigger Happy Not Firing". Still won't fire.

I have tried removing the Trigger Happy app and reinstalling it. I can't see a way to show what version it is. Is there a way? I am in Canada so I don't know if it takes longer for updates to reach Canada.

I have fully shutdown the iPhone and restarted and made sure to shutdown all other apps.

The headphone jack works fine with my earphones for playing music.

When I select the big red Fire button the camera reacts exactly the same as if I half push down on the shutter.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

Got the device today. Plugged it into my Nikon D300. Didn't seem to work. Turned the headphone volume all the way up. Pressed "Fire!" and it worked a few times. Tried interval mode. It worked a few times. Tried the "press to start/press to stop mode." Got nothing. Back to the original mode. Nothing happens. Back to interval mode nothing happens.

Followed the instructions on line, nothing happens.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

The big red button in the app works once, then stops unless I plug everything out and back in again, same for start & stop red button.

Hi, I just received my remote M3 today for my Nikon D700. Unfortunately it is not working. I tried to follow the instructions on your note on ios - I.e. push remote all the way in, turn up max volume, turn down one to two notches if it doesn't work, camera is on manual, even tried manual lenses, re downloaded the app, tried on iPhone and iPad, tried single shot and time lapse.

Am I missing any settings on my camera? My camera's socket works cos I tried with a set of cactus v5 and it works.

Just an additional note - the play sign at the top right hand corner of the iphone appears each time I press "fire", but it still does not work. Not sure if that would be helpful in your fix.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

At this point the cable and the app are completely not working. I can't get anything to happen on the camera at all. ThanksRob

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I received the C3 and I can only assume one of the following: I don't know how to use it (which I think I'm good) or perhaps I was sent a unit pre-refinement on the volume adjustment noted in an email from Triggerhappy weeks ago.

All plugged in. The camera connection works fine as I use it for other remote flash work. iPhone 4S, volume is maxed out. Whenever I lower the volume, I see a warning sign on the iPhone app. When I max out the volume, it goes away - so I'm thinking things are ok.

Press the Fire button, nothing happens. Hold the fire button, nothing happens. Basically, nothing is occurring between the units.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I followed all your troubleshooting instructions, but I still can't get trigger happy to take any pictures. I am using both an iPhone 4S and an iPad 1 with the latest IOS versions. I have the Trigger happy E3.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

i followed your steps for firing from my iphone 3gs to my nikon D80, it wont fire at all. if i lower the volume it says too low to communicate. im shooting in manual and on bulb. the usb is set to mtp/ptp not mass storage, although ive tried it both ways. i have rebooted my phone and camera, nothing

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I am running iOS version 1.0.2 that was updated Aug 08, 2012 The Trigger Happy cable I have is a n2 for a nikon D80

my cable wont work at all now, wont even single fire, the worst part i was paid to shoot a timelapse and it wouldnt fire my camera at all. i have the cable for nikon d80

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

My new Trigger Happy will not trigger my Canon EOS 5D Mark III when I press the big red button on the ap. I have tried all of the suggestions on your web site with no success.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

i have have tried my iPhone and iPad to trigger my camera but cannot get it to work. iPhone is 3GS running version 5.0.1 and iPad is running 5.1.1 I have tried following the trouble shooting on the website here but still cannot get it to work. Also my camera is a Nikon D90

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I have tried to use the cable with a Minolta Maxxum 7D which has the same connector as the Sony but it will not trigger the camera. I have tried all of the things that have been sent on setting it up but nothing seems to help.

I have also tried it with my Sony A65 and it also will not fire.

I have used it with both an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I have got my E3 remote today. I installed the latest version of the app.

I followed the instructions. But the camera doesn't fire. What else can I try.

I have a Canon 60D. The camera is working with another remote controller.

I tested on: iPhone 4s with iOS 6 Beta 4 iPhone 4s with iOS 5.1.1 iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1

None of the devices works. I'm iPhone developer myself, so I know how to use the device.

When I plug in or off the remote cable on camera side, it sometimes triggers. But this is normal.

I also tested on a 600D and it is not working.

Here might be a possible resolution:

iPhones/iPads/iPods that are sold in Europe have a volume limit. But if this is the case, there should be a lot of other people from Europe complaining. Maybe it is a combination of a EU iPhone and a camera that needs a high peak.

All my iPhones are from Germany, therefore they all have the volume cap.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I just received my remote in the mail today. It doesn't seem to be working with my Canon 5D Mark II. I am using an iPhone 4s as the trigger. I have followed all of the directions on the website's help page to no avail.

The cable is securely plugged into both the phone and camera. The app on the phone recognizes the cable. There is no indication of whether or not the camera recognizes the trigger. I have the camera in manual mode, set to fire with a trigger, and the lens is in manual focus, but when I hit the "Fire!" button, nothing happens. Please let me know what else I can do.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

Just got my trigger happy C3 in the mail. Followed the instructions on the help page to a tee, but I am getting nothing at all. It's plugged into a 7D with my iphone at full volume, no sound check or volume limit. Not sure what to do. Tried from my iPad, same results. Camera seems to be functioning normally.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I just received my Trigger Happy model C3. I've tried using it on both my Canon EOS 5D and EOS 40D but it wouldn't trigger either camera. I followed your troubleshooting steps but still no luck.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

Hey guys, I just received my Trigger today, I downloaded the App, installed...plugged in, turn on camera, opened app and hit the fire button and..... nothing happened. I tried all other functions don't work either. :-(

I put in two other remote triggers I have: a wireless and a cable trigger and those worked fine on my Canon 5Dmii, but the Trigger Happy trigger did not work. I turned up and down the volume on iPhone and still nothing.

What I did find though; was when Trigger Happy was plugged in, the Canon shutter trigger button was VERY sensitive, barely touch it and camera would fire.

Confirmed:

No go guys! :-(

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

Hi, I have still not been able to get the trigger happy to work with my Nikon D80. I tried putting the camera on every setting possible, and it does not work no matter what I do.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

5dmiii off iPhone 4S Hello, I finally received my trigger happy and was super excited to use it - unfortunately, it does not fire at all, even when trying all of the fix it steps (and trying to fire at each step of the way as well) no luck.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

doesn't work C3 on Canon 5D Mk II bought it through Kickstarter followed your ck list on troubleshooting iPhone 4s recognizes your device will not fire camera .. talk to camera .. or anything else with camera

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I am an original Kickstarter backer, and just received my Trigger Happy unit for use on both my 5D Mark 2 and 7D. It does not work...

I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps listed on your site, and have tried from multiple iPhones as well. Nothing seems to work. The application does tell me if the headphone volume is too low, and so it does appear to detect the connection of the cable, but nothing else works. I cannot fire the cameras in any mode, manual or automatic.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I've tried all these steps, and still it doesn't fire. I've tried iPad2 and iPhone 4. Both have iOS6 beta installed, so that should be taken into account. I've done these steps with both my devices.

Here's the troubleshooter: If you can't trigger your camera with Trigger Happy on an iOS device, we recommend you go through these steps to get it working:

1) Plug Trigger Happy into your iOS devices through the audio jack. Check

2) Plug Trigger Happy into your camera. Verify that it is plug in all the way. Check

3) SET your camera to MANUAL mode Check

4) Turn the auto focus (AF) on your camera to OFF or MANUAL FOCUS (MF). Check

5) Try triggering your camera with the Trigger Happy Remote app. Press and hold the big red button. If the camera does not trigger, continue following these steps. Check. Triggers occationally once, then never again.

4) Make sure Sound Check is off on your iOS device. Go to Settings -> Music and toggle Sound Check to off. Check

5) Make sure Volume Limit is maxed out. Go to Settings -> Music -> Volume Limit and slide the volume slider to the very right of the screen. Check

6) Try triggering your camera with the Trigger Happy Remote app. Press and hold the big red button. If the camera does not trigger, continue following these steps. Check

7) Try triggering your camera in the Trigger Happy Remote app while you lower the volume. On some defective devices, the strength of the signal will be strong a few clicks down on the volume popup. Check

8) If it still doesn't fire, and you're sure you followed the instructions exactly, please email us with detailed information of your problem.

I've followed all the steps. I got a Canon 60D, and ordered the part which suited that one. Unfortunately the TriggerHappy unit doesn't say what model it is. But looking through your Buy-page, it is the E3.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I have attempted to use the TriggerHappy Remote with my Nikon D5000 DSLR & iPod Touch 4th Generation running iOS 6 Beta, but have been unsuccessful in getting it to work. I followed the detailed instructions listed in this article: https://triggerhappy.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/675767-trouble-shooting-trigger-happy-not-firing but nothing seems to have fixed the issue at hand.

When all the cables are connected and devices turned on, pressing the shutter release button in the iPod Touch app registers no action on the camera unit. I can only imagine the iOS app has not yet been optimized for iOS 6. (Due this Wednesday.)

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I sent you a message several days ago. I received my C3 and it does not work. I cannot get the shutter to fire. I have followed all the steps outlined in the support doc on your site and it has not fired.

The problem was discovered as soon as I took the product out of the original package and tried to use it for the very first time. In other words, it has never worked.

I am using the iOS version, latest 5.1.1. Trigger happy remote app version is latest version as it was only downloaded a week ago.

Also, what camera are you using and what firmware version does it have? My camera is the Canon 5D Mark III with the latest firmware installed.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

After troubleshooting and testing, I was finally able to get the trigger to fire. With one problem though. The Time Lapse function is the only capability that works. If I switch to the Trigger (bottom left) it doesn't fire at all.

I'm using an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1. The Trigger Happy app is the latest version available from iTunes and finally, my camera is a Canon 7D with firmware version 1.2.5.

Just to see what would happen, I connected the cable to my iPad and was able to use all functions. However, this is impractical and not as advertised.

Just to give you an update; I updated my iPhone to iOS 6.0 and I am still unable to use the single shot fire button. I also tried different configurations on my camera (bulb, manual, etc) but each were unsuccessful in triggering the shutter.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I have a Nikon D7000 and a iPhone 4s. I find that the Headphone volume must be completely maxed for the 'Headphone volume too low'msg to go away. When it does go away the big Red Start buttone will not trigger the camera. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps to no avail.

I am using iOS version 5.1.1 (9B206) on a 4s iPhone; the software version is not noted in the application, but there do not appear to be any upgrades waiting to be pushed to the app, therefore it must be the latest version available. The firmware version for my Nikon D7000 is F-D7000-V103W, which is the latest update.

I am a backer of the Trigger Happy Project. I was excited to try it with my new Canon 5D MIII, but had no success. The unit will not fire even after trying the troubleshooting tips on your web site. I have a iPhone 4 with IOS 6. I discovered the problem when I tried to use Trigger Happy. I went to your web site an did the suggested troubleshooting with no success.

Canon 5D MIII Firmware 1.1.2

Yes, I have the most up to date Trigger Happy Software

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I have received my C3 cable in the UK (last week) and i thank you for that but the cable does absolutely nothing. I am using it with a 5DM3 and an iPhone 4s (running iOS6).... Tried absolutely everything.... Every mode on the iPhone, the camera, switching to manual mode on the lens and image stabiliser off and still nothing happens !!!! I have also followed the troubleshooting instructions on your website but there is no response whatsoever. Is there something i need to do in order to make this work or could this just be a faulty cable. Everything is up to date !! Firmware on my camera and lenses are the latest from Canon, my iPhone is running iOS 6 and the app is the newest version.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I followed the directions exactly, volume is set to max, sound check off, volume limit off. Cameras are set to manual with AF off. Cameras do not fire when the screen is touched. I have tried lowering the volume, no change. The time lapse does work if the interval is set to 2 seconds or less.

EOS 5D Mark II, Firmware Version 2.1.2 EOS 7D Firmware Version 2.0.3

iPhone 4S running iOS 6

Trigger Happy Remote v. 1.0.2

I discovered the issue when I was using the product for the first time. As for troubleshooting, I followed the steps on the FAQ. When it did not affect the outcome I contacted support.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I've been a kickstart supporter of your trigger happy remote and ordered a pair of it. It used to work with IOS5 on my iPhone and iPod, but as soon as I updated my IOS devices to IOS6 I wasn't able to use them anymore. I went through all the steps you stated...it didn't fire my D7000. Removed the app, put off the IOS device, put it back on, reinstalled the app, hook up the cable tried the newly installed app....IT DIDN'T FIRE.

I'm using the 2 trigger happy cables, one for my Nikon D7000 with the latest firmware and used to work with your cable and the other is for my D90 which used to fire up as well.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

Phone: Iphone 4 iOS: 6.0 I do have the latest Trigger Happy app

Camera: Canon 40D

Everything works on my Iphone except the Fire button. If I use the time lapse it works great which tells me that the camera and the Iphone are communicating. Is just the fire option that doesn't work. However, when I plug the cable into my Ipad, everything works including the fire button.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

I patiently waited for and received the Trigger Happy Remote a few months ago and had a great time using it for a little while. I finally had a chance to play around with it again today but it no longer seemed to trigger the camera to fire. Tried going through all of the instructions in your support center but that did not solve the issue. Not sure what version of the app I was using when I was using when I first got the Trigger Happy Remote but I updated my iPhone apps today, so if it was an older version of Trigger Happy software that worked fine before, then it could be the update to 1.0.2 that's causing the issue.

I'm using a Canon Rebel T3i, with the app installed on an iPhone 4, iOS version 5.0.1.

melissagottula commented 11 years ago

Having a little trouble getting the "Fire" button to respond while using trigger happy on my iPhone 4. I have followed your suggestions about setting volume to its max and turning the sound check off but to no avail, it just will not respond. Every other function works and triggers the camera correctly.

When using my iPad to trigger the "Fire" button, using the same settings as on the phone all works correctly!

So iPad good, iPhone not good, any surgestions?

I have the latest Trigger Happy app. My camera is a canon 50d with Firmware version 1.0.8 which I believe is the latest version (though I could be wrong).
