MelonDS has trouble working with patched ROMs #1866

Boot up Pokemon HeartGold, it works fine and even shows it on the Nintendo boot screen. Boot the patched version of it and on the boot screen, it reads no DS card inserted. Bypassing it by booting to the game directly and trying to save, it returns a save error in the game instead.

"Patched version" can literally mean anything here. What patch are you even talking about.

Are you using dsi mode? Dsi mode's launcher has anti-romhack/homebrew checks built in to it.

Uh... I mean romhacks. And secondly, I run on DS mode.

might be a bad dump or scuffed patch , i use melonds to test my rom hacks and they run just fine with no problems

Funny enough cuz it run fine on Desmume and DraStic with the saves working and all. Edit: dammit vietnamese keyboard, and corrections

I can play a romhack (Sacred Gold) mostly fine, as shown in https://github.com/melonDS-emu/melonDS/issues/1830

Could you at least give a name for the romhack or maybe link it so that we can test it if it's an actual issue or not?

Hi everyone, I know this thread is really old, but I’m having a similar issue after updating the Delta emulator to the latest melonds version. I used to use this ROM patch (Black 2 Kaizo), and it worked fine before. Now, with the latest version, it doesn’t work anymore. I used DeltaPatcher to create the NDS file myself with the provided xdelta file. Not sure if there's something else I need to do after patching the file. Please let me know if you could help with my issue, I really appreciate it.
