DSi mode doesn't support microphone input at all yet (DSi uses different microphone hardware)
Hello all,
I'm playing "Nintendogs Lab & Friends" with Emudeck which uses melonDS (0.9.3 5e52c24) on my Steam Deck and unfortunately the microphone does not work. It is essential in this game to have a microphone, because you need to give commands to your dog. The noise generator does not work well here.
Is this a separate issue or are they related?
This is a popular issue in the community:
Any help would be appreciated :)
not a dsi title, so yes that's a different issue
no clue how emudeck works, but if it's using the flatpak version of melonds it might be a problem with flatpak permissions
Thanks for the quick reply. I will open another issue then. Where should I do that?
--socket=pulseaudio
is associated with the microphone, but other than that there is no official documentation on how to activate the microphone. I downloaded Flatseal to manage permission and there was a grayed out slider named microphone. So should I raise the issue here or on RetroArch?
Best regards Julian
If it's through RetroArch you should report the issue to them instead of here. They use their own fork of melonDS which doesn't really keep up with the latest changes, and has some changes of their own.
Guys, any news with the DSi microphone?
I'm currently using one of the latest builds (although with previous builds it also happens).
I have enabled the option to use an external microphone and although Windows detects that the microphone is being used by melonDS, the microphone doesn't work in DSi mode (in DS mode works without problem).
Does the DSi mode support microphone or it's WIP?
