Comment in checkin view

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to checkin page.
2. Lookup an item.
3. Add a comment.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect a comment to be added to that item. I get an exception instead.

After I make a comment, I'm redirected to the item information page for that 
item, and am unable to check in the item anymore. Is this what we want?

I think it would be fine except for the fact that I am redirected to an empty 
check in page after I check in, making it hard for me to add a comment to that 
item afterwards.
