Yes Ubuntu is based on Debian. However, there are some difference in the
packages OSD Lyrics depend on, like libappindicate. A deb for Debian needs to
be build under Debian, otherwise the dependencies will be wrong for Debian
users.
I'll leave this issue open for any one who will help.
The DeadBeef support is discussed in issue 115. Please post only one problem
per issue.

hillwood has set up a debian repository in OBS.
