8 years ago I'm going to close this issue now. The v2 development cycle made the state of the landmarker much clearer - with the programatic notifications, and ability to get back to the intro screen, @lirsacc addressed the worst of these problems.
If we have specific edge cases that we find we aren't handling, we can make smaller issues for them in the future.
Right now the landmarker outputs to the command line diagnostic information about failures but these are not shown to the user. Either the error reporting should be clearer if the problem is of the users doing, or we should be smarter in making sure users aren't able to generate these problems in the first place.
