Firstly. Thanks for the great software and instructions.
After wasted hours with flashrom not detecting the chip (error), I figured out that I had connected the SOIC clip 180 degrees in the wrong direction, due to cunning dots on my chips! (t430)
This led me to incorrectly connect the CLIP pin 1 to the CHIP pin 5 (As it seemed to correspond with the below instructions diagram):
So, if you're having the same issue, make sure you connect CLIP's pin 1 to CHIP's pin 1 (the motherboard has the CHIP pin numbers written in each corner.)
Also, make sure you connect the VCC (3.3v) to the CLIP pin 8
