Now the notifier starts playing as soon as it receives a notification. It would be better to ensure that previously-playing notifications have finished first

I was having this problem as well - notifications can come on top of each other making it difficult to understand anything.

This was an issue w/ anchor-watch but now it only updates it's notification to alarm state once which brings about another issue, if something is in alarm state (anchor dragging, engine overheating, etc) and you missed or didn't fully understand the alarm's audio notification you're out of luck.

Short version: notifications in alarm state should be repeated.
