The Metatext app prides itself on NOT offering an algorithmic timeline. It’s literally the first thing the app advertises in the App Store listing. That’s a feature, not a bug. If you want a Twitter-like, algorithm based mastodon experience, there are other apps for that.
In general, I find metatext much more pleasant to use than the official mastodon app for iOS. However, there are a couple of features in the official app that I think would be a useful addition to metatext:
The official app has a "Posts" tab that shows toots that are gaining the most traction in the Fediverse and received a lot of engagement. I'm not sure what the exact algorithm behind it is, but I like the final result.
A similar feature of the official app that in my opinion should be ported to metatext is the "For you" tab, which contains a list of recommended users to follow. Also not sure what's the exact algorithm, but it looks like it's based on the currently followed accounts.
Thank you for the consideration!
