Decide on project branching method

It is generally a best practice not to commit to master branch unless the code is stable.

• [ ] Decide on a branching practice for concurrent development.
• [ ] Create basic branch(es) to kick off project development
• [ ] Add chosen branching strategy to project development documentation

I believe Git Flow is becoming somewhat popular, and propose we adopt Git Flow branching.
