Were Prometheus / InfluxDB considered in doing this ? #8

There is a lot of the Metrics 2.0 implemented in InfluxDB / Prometheus (adopted by the CNCF for Cloud Native deployments).. yet I see no reference to those engines on the metrics20.org website ?

Do they really not match the model here, or is it an overlook ?

to my knowledge those systems, while they use "tags", don't encourage or adopt standardisation of terminology, (other than maybe conventions within their own project). they also don't do any of the things other metrics2.0 implementations do (e.g. automatic conversions between desired and requested data format; e.g. request data as TB/day while we have data as a counter of bytes, and the system will do the conversion automatically)

correct me if i'm wrong! i'ld love to collaborate more.

One recent change metrics2.0 made is using host as a key instead of server since both openTSDB and influxdb use that term.
