I will send the link to the board and everyone will have a look.
The version in the repository is: https://github.com/mets/METS-board/blob/master/web%20documents/metsoverview.md
There are also translations at http://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/mets-schemadocs.html
Some are HTML (French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German); Persian is PDF and simplified and traditional Chinese are word docs.
And most relevantly to this issue:
The consensus at the board meeting today was that we should remove the information behaviorSec from the overview as it is not used in the form here. We will go ahead and merge #35 and #36.
For the translations, we should provide a diff with the updates we made to the mailing list and ask people for contributions.
I think it would probably be worthwhile to at least update the XML in the translations (and put them here in markdown). I will plan on doing that.
Merged changes from #35 and #36. I will attempt to convert the translations to markdown and make a summary of the changes that should be applied to the translations as well.
I converted all the translations except Persian to markdown, and applied the XML updates.
Here is a comparison that shows the changes in the text that would need to be applied to the translations:
https://github.com/mets/METS-board/compare/6e9ca8d..master
Changes include rewriting the introduction and changing "digital library objects" to "digital objects", along with a few other minor edits.
There is a Russian translation we should add: https://www.prlib.ru/sites/default/files/u535/mets_overview_rus.pdf
Bertrand will update the French translation and possibly the Spanish one. Aaron will ask Angela if she can update the Italian one. Andreas will update the German one. Karin will ask José Borbinha (the original translator for the Portuguese one) We aren't sure who produced the Chinese one. Karin will reach out to the Russian translators. Aaron will copy the Russian translation into the Markdown format & apply the XML updates. We aren't sure who created the Persian translation either.
I will create a new ticket for each translation for easier tracking.
@aelkiss I can't find the HTML-converted translations... can you point me to their location in Github?
@BertrandCaron They are on the "overview_translations" branch. Here is the French one: https://github.com/mets/METS-board/blob/overview_translations/web%20documents/metsoverview_fr.md
Updated German translation see https://github.com/mets/METS-board/pull/39
This is a very old document, and there are likely several things that need to be updated or corrected.
