WPA comes up blank #65

Hey i run the program for like 15 hours....finally at like 98% spits out the 
pin and the line with wpa just says : ' ' which is blank.

Reaver will report the WPS passphrase that the router gives it. It may be 
possible that the AP does not provide its current WPA key to registrars, 
although that would be non-standard. Might be an obvious question, but the AP 
does use WPA encryption, correct?

yes it does use wpa encryption plus walsh says its compatible. im running it 
again, stupid me i restarted without remembering the pin.

You should make sure you are running version 1.3. It will automatically save 
your state and remember the pin for you. :)

This may be that the AP just doesn't provide the key to a registrar. But you 
should be able to reconfigure the WPA key using wpa_supplicant once you get the 
pin. What make/model is the AP?

router is. I was using 1.2 now im using 1.3.

WPS registrars can reconfigured the WPA key, along with some other wireless 
settings, but you have to know the AP's WPS pin in order to become a registrar. 
Once Reaver has broken the WPS pin, you can supply that pin to wpa_supplicant 
and re-configure the AP's wireless settings. I don't remember the 
wpa_supplicant commands to do that off hand though.

so if i get the pin even if it comes up blank i can use the pin to get the 
password? where could i find that info?

You can't get the administrator password. But you can re-configure the WPA key 
so something of your choosing. I'd check the wpa_supplicant and wpa_cli 
documentation for the details.

Yes, you can change the WPA passphrase even if you don't know what it is 
currently set to.
