Nice project - except that is GPL licensed and for most other projects cannot 
be used because of that.

I rather port it from the MIT licensed ruby version than spending the time to 
convince anyone here.

I'm also puzzled by the choice of license... it seems far to restrictive given 
the scope of this code.
