our taxonomist says: "do not offer two species. ONE MUST BE enough and if it is not, then the identifying person is not doing their job correctly". these are the options I could collect from him (with what they mean):
Masdevallia sp aff. angulata (I'm sure it's not M. angulata, but it does look like it) Masdevallia cf angulata == Masdevallia ? angulata (I'm not sure it's M. angulata) Genero sp <voucher number> (found in a herbarium, I don't take position on identification) Genero sp nov <voucher number> (found in a herbarium, it's definitely a new species)

according to Eric: » You should work with Verification records and the most recent identification will link the accession to a Taxon. Identification qualifier can include aff. cf. etc. and this will result in the Accession name, in the case below Tillandsia aff. streptocarpa Baker
Be aware that there can be more Verification records linking to different Taxa, with different Verification levels and you can find the accession searching for all names in the Verification records!«
which makes very much sense, and implies we should unify the two tabs in the accession editor: General & Verifications. species would become a property (rather than a field) of the accession.

the way it works now, the id qualifier makes sense for questioning the species identification, but I have the impression it does not allow for all the variety in identification fuzziness one would want.
one option which I feel is missing: Genus species_1 aff. Genus species_2
I really need a list of possible identification strings from our taxonomist!
