Improved Video Controls - FPS? #58

Hello, i got a Logitech C922 that is able to stream Full HD on 30 FPS and HD on 60 FPS. The conference client seems not to be able to work good with this camera. My stream is pretty laggy and not very fluent and i don't really know why. I have optimally configured my camera settings in the drivers - and it does work in XSplit, Skype, the Logitech Software and openbroadcaster well, but it does lag in this conference software. The only thing i see your conference Software does not have is an option to choose the fps that should be used.

People with older Webcams like the HD Webcam C310 from logitech, for example, do not have Problems as it works fine and fluent, but those are not able to stream HD at all despite Streaming different resolutions on different FPS. Maybe i misconfigured something in the server?

Other than this: Very great Job, we have lots of fun with this Software and conferences work fine, too g

Okay, as i also got Windows 10 this might could also have to do with https://github.com/mfreiholz/ts3video/issues/39, i think.

this is a common issue with all 1080 capeable cameras from logitech even my c920... this issue has alreday been brought up to the devs and is in the issues list. as far as i can tell its an openGL issue rather than an issue with the camera. but a workaround weve found in my group is to make sure you are running the client on your main monitor, and turning off "start automatically" for your camera then wait till the other members have joined to turn yours on. this may sound off the wall but it works out most of the time.

Well, noone of us has more than one monitor. We will try the activation of camera after everyone has joined, though. Anyways, this will not help us much, as we use it not for conferences but just everytime we are in teamspeak - so people leave and join permanently.

oh i understand it being used constantly. weve had to make sure we keep track of whos coming and going so that it can be fixed when the issue happens and its kinda crappy to have to make everyone get off video while the guy with the logi cam re connects. but its been whats kept our groups logitech users online and working. so i guess its the thought that counts right. in general the issue with the logitech cameras seems to come and go for our users its not constant. weve had a point where it would only be one user having the issue then his would fix and another guy with he same camera would start having the issue. also windows 10 changed the way webcams are handled in the anniversary update, which could be another cause for issue. but i havent confirmed it yet. theres quite a bit of little quirks in the software but ive been reporting them all since i started using it and trying to help with workarounds whenever i can via these emails.

Well, all of us use Windows 10 & Logitech cams, and most of us use 920 / 922 / Brio - what can we do in this case? (Group of logitech periphals only users :D)

depressobbq commented 7 years ago

thats complicated to work around. but id guess the best thing to do is test it out see if any specific order fixes it. also weve noticed 720 doesnt have as many slowdowns as 1080

The client uses a fixed FPS of ~20. Since it's primary use-case is for conferencing this seemed to be enough and keeps the required bandwidth low. I might add some custom configuration for this in future.

D3nnis3n commented 7 years ago

Alright, but as i said this might also be a bug. As other Webcams work fluent even though you said they are fixed to 20 fps. With that logitech cam a conference is not possible to hold.

@jedi404 I can't find an issue for your Problem with Logitech cams in this tracker? Could you link me to it or create one, if none is existing yet?

Bluscream commented 7 years ago

A fps setting client and a server side limit seems convinient to me :)
