Couple features I would absolutely love to see on the 3DS release:

lotharsm commented 6 years ago

Would like to see this too. But is the 3DS fast enough to handle fast forwarding?

endrift commented 6 years ago

For GB games yes. For GBA games no.

Also I used to have filtering but I removed it due to it being slow. That was based on file contents not file name though.

endrift commented 6 years ago

What do you mean by "C-stick support for movement"? Movement for what? Like a secondary D-pad binding?

tralce commented 6 years ago

The New 3DS has a TrackPoint style doohickey that some emulators allow to bind as a dpad. GameYob does this and I wish every emulator did.

For further clarification, I would greatly appreciate an option to show only files ending in .gb .gbc .gba .zip (if mgba supports loading from zip; I have no idea). It seems pointless to be able to see all the files created like .sav .ss1 etc.

And all I mean for the fast forward toggle is, I bind ZL to fast forward, but it'd be really nice to press it once to turn it on and again to turn it off.

Thanks!

I'm all in on the fast forward toggle button. Some games are unplayable in their original speed (DQI&II for GBC, all Pokemon games, to count a few). Holding the FF button constantly makes my hands go numb, I change the mapping every few hours to avoid that.

Is there any chance to bring Fast Forward to GBA games on NEW 3DS (OVERCLOCKED ON LUMA) in the further versions ?

Basically, Pokemon games has so many texts to play in normal speed. A toogle FF button will be awesome!

profi200 commented 5 years ago

Don't understand how people can say the games are unplayable without fast forward. It's how they were meant to be played. "Skipping" through everything ruins the fun imho.

And no, N3DS can't handle fast forward at all. It is just able to reach fullspeed in some games. Dynarec is unlikely to come for ARMv6.

Ickerday commented 5 years ago

@profi200 We already have FF on N3DS, the issue is about adding a toggle instead of having to have a button pressed at all times.

And the games were often padded in the olden days. The objectives were often so obscured that you had to buy a strategy guide. It changed only when the internet was more widely available.

Toggle fast-forward has been present in bindings for a while. I forget when I added it. That said, don't expect it to work that well on GBA games.

The only thing that's not present in dev builds is C-stick navigation.
