I am having a similar issue using my ps3 controller. The d-pad 'left' and 'down' always maps the same button in mgba (+8). I don't have this problem with any other emulator, so it seems like a bug in mgba with mapping d-pad on controllers.
I have a cheapo SNES-like USB gamepad but it doesn't seem to have this same issue. Where did you get it?
i'm using an adapter that i can use a real snes controller for my pc
if you're wondering what adapter i'm using, it's this one https://www.amazon.com/Tomee-SNES-USB-Controller-Adapter-pc/dp/B00HM3QCT6/ref=asc_df_B00HM3QCT6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=642194472653&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13687191520889591818&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9013141&hvtargid=pla-495939662332&psc=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw27mhBhC9ARIsAIFsETGs5m-OqpS9s7pbAPouopZvJYQE4CONzh2RPjLnTjwIgJCNzp11UggaAoZNEALw_wcB another issue related to this is that the left shoulder button acts like the up d-pad and the right shoulder button acts like the right d-pad these issues aren't present in other emulators, so idk what's going on.
I've ordered one. That'll help me look into it when it arrives.
I have a similar issue except mine for some reason its just registering right dpad as right and left and the left dpad does nothing and my characters constantly going left. Wheres the support? I'm using the official SWITCH SNES controller.
this is free software
Also I guess I forgot to reply after I got it: I wasn't able to reproduce even with that adapter.
Whenever I play a game using the emulator, all the buttons work except for the left D-pad arrow. And when I try to set it, it sets it to ←/7 while it should be ←/7/-0 mgbareport.zip
