Hot patch for 1.1.2 to fix geopandas FutureWarning nonsense #90

This is another hot patch to prepare for the workshop this week. The release of geopandas 0.14.0 made older versions of this package unusable with any older version of geopandas due to the cascade of "FutureWarining" outputs
