embryo phenotype label #2804

The term 'embryo' has very different meanings in different species. We currently use embryo phenotype to cover all of the prenatal period. The definition I created for embryo phenotype reflects this but we may need to change the label to better reflect the use of the term in a species neutral manner. Possibly 'prenatal phenotype'.

Sue,

I am just wondering, what is the definition you created for embryo phenotype?

I we change the label to' prenatal phenotype' (i.e. existing or occurring before birth; synonym: antenatal), shouldn't that include (some) pregnancy-related phenotypes such as abnormal embryo implantation MP:0001727?

Abnormal pregnancy MP:0009661 and child terms thereof are currently solely placed under abnormal female reproductive system physiology MP:0009661.

Also, other terms such as hydrops fetalis MP:0002192 and terms related to abnormal prenatal growth/weight/body size MP:0004196 will need to be additionally placed under 'prenatal phenotype'.
