Malware [Trojan] warning for Windows exe file

Hi,

trying to use the Windows EXE-file that is employed to extract images and annotations from pdf files (as in the Obsidian Zotero Integration plugin) results in a fatal error as indicated by my Avast Virus detection software:

I am using the latest version of both the plugin (2.2.34) as well as the pdfannots2json-exe file (1.0.14).

Question: Is there really a malware bug or can I safely use these files?

The problem arises when trying to extract annotations, i.e. when using the file. Submission to Virustotal indicates most virus checkers do not recognize a threat with the file only being present:

Addition: version 1.0.13 works flawlessly without the malware warning.
