Unable to upgrade webcomics from Webcomic 3 to 4.0.9.1 #125

Hi! I've been using Webcomic 3 for a while and with remarkable success. A few months ago I attempted to upgrade to Webcomic 4 and I saw it impossible to upgrade my already-existing webcomics into the new format. The Upgrade Tool would give an error (I believe 500?) every time. SO, I uninstalled Webcomic 4 and went back to Webcomic 3, and thankfully all my webcomic data was still intact.

I kept ignoring the Update Plugin warnings until today, when a new update for Inkblot (the theme I am using) sent my website into a re-arrange of design. After I sorted the design back to the old page as much as I could, I decided this could be the best time to give Webcomic 4 a new chance, so I went ahead and upgraded it.

However, I am not able to upgrade my webcomics from Webcomic 3 to Webcomic 4.0.9.1 (the version I upgraded to) because there is no "Upgrade Webcomic" option on the TOOLS menú. Instead, there's only "Webcomic Commerce".

I want to give Webcomic 4 a chance and NOT go back to Webcomic 3. What I am doing wrong? How can I upgrade my webcomics without the "Upgrade Webcomic" tool?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The Webcomic Upgrade option is only presented when Webcomic 4 detects that you had a previous version of Webcomic (or ComicPress) installed. I'm guessing that something funky happened when your previous upgrade attempt flaked out. I'd try downgrading to Webcomic 3 first and saving both your general Webcomic settings (on the Webcomic > Settings page) and individual collection settings. That should "rebuild" your Webcomic 3 settings, so that when you install Webcomic 4 again it properly detects that you were using a previous version.
