Theme Customize / Plugin conflict #372

Hi. I love this Webcomics plugin, it does what I need it to do. And I can't seem to find another plugin like it. But I am having a little problem. The plugin is causing a conflict with my Theme Customizer. The Customizer won't show up when the Webcomic Plugin is active.

Expected Behavior

I should be able to click on the Theme - Customize and be able to edit my site.

Current Behavior

When I click on Theme - Customize, I get a blank edit column and the site does not show to the right of the edit column.... The Customize screen appears to be "loading" But it never loads. When I turn off the Webcomic plugin, Customize appears and does what I need it to.

Context

When I deactivate the Webcomic Plugin, It shuts off my comics and people can't read them. ((Which the last time I did this. I was hit with a couple emails from people telling my comics were down.)) I would love to be able to Customize my theme and keep my comics live.

Also I'd like to note that I tried this on two other themes... to make sure the problem wasn't in the theme. I also deactivated all other plugins to see if this happened on just the plugin itself.

Example

Thanks for the detailed report @Poecatcomix! I can't replicate this on my test box, unfortunately; the Customizer appears to be working on a clean install of Webcomic 5.0.6, WordPress 5.9, and PHP 7.4.

Could you provide a few more details:

Hi. Thought I'd add my own experience. I've checked this several times the past few months, across several major updates, currently on 5.9. Doesn't matter what theme (I tried several twenty x ones to test them, though I use Blocksy for my actual site.) or plugins I have on. Deactivating them all except Webcomic still breaks Customise. I've tried it on PHP 8.0 and 7.4. No part of webcomics' settings have been changed from install. I, don't think it's relevant, unless magically everyone else is also using it, but I use Local to use Wordpress.

I use the theme, Page Builder Framework. Along with 3 themes that I made specifically for each of the three comics. I tested the customizer on the basic WP themes and a paid them called BeTheme.

With the Webcomic settings. I don't have any of the components active.

I did just notice that my site is also hanging up when I click on the Webcomic Generator. It doesn't fully load and I'm unable to click on the collection, start date and publish.

For now... I'm not sure what I have done, but I've managed to crash the rest of the Webcomics plugin. I'll be doing a site redo since things are not working atm.
