Users might not know syntax #5

Certain commands require users to add country code and time zone which they might not be familiar with and a list is not provided.

Team's Response

Thank you for the bug report. However, we have a parameters constraints summary table that lists the various specifications for our parameters. Inside, we have provided links for users to refer to regarding country codes and timezones. This is similar to AB3 where no command list is provided in the application and the User Guide has to be consulted. However, we have also value-added to TBM's help window to include a full list of commands for easy reference which is easily accessible.

We changed the severity to Low as this might at worst cause minor inconvenience. We changed the bug type to DocumentationBug as it seems to be an issue with finding the correct section of our User Guide.

 Issue response

Team chose [response.Rejected]

Reason for disagreement: Thank you for your feedback. However, I feel that this is a legitimate Feature Flaw as although lists are provided for the country codes and timezones, the app itself does not provide a means to find them (unless they make an error in the syntax) and this might cause occasional inconvenience to users as they constantly have to refer to the user guide to obtain the links for the lists of country codes and timezones (and also getting used to the format for timezones).

 Issue type

Team chose [type.DocumentationBug] Originally [type.FeatureFlaw]

Reason for disagreement: I strongly disagree with this alteration as I believe it is a feature flaw for the following reasons:

1) There is a huge number of country codes and timezones and the app itself does not provide a means of listing them unless users make an error in the syntax of the country code or timezone. This means that users would be required to consistently refer to the user guide to obtain the links which provides them with the appropriate country codes and timezones as it is almost impossible to memorize all of them by heart. Timezones also follow a specific format, thus, it would take a while for users to get accustomed to it. This would be very troublesome and time-consuming for users.

2) Name of countries are easier to remember as compared to their country codes. I believe users would be more comfortable with specifying the name of the respective countries rather than country codes as a number of country codes (ISO3166) have no relation to the spelling of the country itself (e.g., Country: Algeria, Country Code: DZ).

3) Users could possibly enter the wrong timezone for a specific country code if they do not have complete knowledge of how timezones work. A number of countries (especially bigger ones) have several timezones within them so it might be confusing for users. Also, if they get the timezones wrong, it might affect their work schedule and their arrangements with the respective clients.

 Issue severity

Team chose [severity.Low] Originally [severity.Medium]

Reason for disagreement: For the reasons stated in my Issue Response and Issue Type sections, I stand firm on my decision to give this issue a severity of severity.Medium as I believe, although users can continue using the product, they would encounter occasional inconvenience as they constantly have to refer to the user guide for the links which provides the list of country codes and timezones, which would be very troublesome and time-consuming. Not only that, confusion with regards to timezones might affect users' work schedules and arrangements with their clients.
