Using Library "Enyim.Caching.dll", Data is not stored in memcached

Implementation in C# Code

MemcachedClient client = new MemcachedClient()

if(client.Get<string>("key") !=null)
{
  return "X";
}
else
{
  client.Store(StoreMode.set,"key","Test");
  return "Y"
}

When I debug the code It always goes to else condition. 

Let me know if any points i have missed
