Improve and cleanup source filter Autostart mechanism (previously contributed):

• bugfix: gracefully handle race-condition between settings update and frontend event by remembering a pending event which still should be handled until settings are updated
• cleanup: explicitly initialize source filter settings
• cleanup: consistently use "nullptr" instead of "NULL"
